The first painting for the upcoming art guitar show has been completed. Sativa is the partner to the California Homegrown guitar (concept drawing below). It's being built by J.W. Black, a masterbuilder from Fender's Custom Shop. He and Pamelina worked together on many guitars for the Custom Shop, most notably the Playboy Stratocaster which featured hand-painted portraits of Marilyn Monroe from Playboy's first issue.

The painting was done with Liquitex acrylics on 24 x 36 illustration board.

The body of the guitar was given a base coat by Wilkins Guitars and is ready for artwork. It will then go in for a clearcoat and be shipped back to J.W. Black for assembly.
